HAYGAIN... the world's leading method of steaming hay
The HAYGAIN horse hay steamers were developed over a number of years after Brian Fillery thought of the initial idea, inspired by experience with his own horses.

Over time a team of experts led by Brian and co-director Tim Oliver have matured the concept into a scientifically proven reality.

A patent application for a method of steaming hay was filed in1992, followed by research at the University of Bristol through to the mid1990's. However, the unanimous conclusion was that just steaming hay in a container did not reach the necessary high temperatures throughout all of the hay to achieve the objective.

Intense development started in 2002 when the initial concept was extended with the addition of a steam distribution manifold system designed to introduce steam within the centre of the hay. This enabled up to a whole bale even with strings attached to be fully steamed and the critical performance and results were then achieved.

Three years of extensive, controlled laboratory research at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, together with a team of engineering experts enabled Propress Equine to bring the HAYGAIN hay steamers to market as a proven method to steam hay properly to improve respiratory health and equine well-being.

This is repeatedly confirmed and is evident in the observations of some of the diverse range of HAYGAIN users on our Testimonials page.

The patent for the steam distribution manifold system was fully granted on 1st September 2009 and is key to HAYGAIN's unique, proven method to steam hay and improve the horse's well-being.
